DINING OUT: HASH SPECIALTY COFFEE AND ROASTERS
What makes a good long weekend? Friends, family and good food. The Easter long weekend is a good change to unwind and an even better chance to venture into Melbourne's nooks and crannies for a good feast.
Open throughout this Easter weekend is Hash Specialty Coffee and Roasters, whose signature hot chocolate is a must-try among Melbourne foodies: Dark Mörk cocoa served in a beaker and poured over a cloud of house-made fairy floss, which collapses into a sticky chocolate concoction. It's dramatic, theatrical and of course, Instagram-worthy:
But Hash is not just about its hot chocolate. The Hardware Street cafe also serves a range of hearty all-day breakfast and lunch fares. I was tempted by the Beef Short Ribs and Chorizo & Scallops, but eventually settled on the Summer Waffle to satisfy my sweet tooth:
Summer Waffle - Toasted waffle, citrus ricotta, grilled orange and mango cheek, milk crumb, toasted almond and maple syrup.
I was expecting the dish to be sickly sweet but it was a delight! The grilled orange and mango cheek gave your typical waffles a summery, citrus taste which balanced out the sweetness from maple syrup. Look at it! It feels like summer all over again.
If you're looking to grab the tail end of this Easter holiday and enjoy a good meal, head on down to Hardware Street. You won't miss Hash, with its vibrant wall art and of course, the signature "#" symbol out front.
